Green driving tips

  •
    1. Take it easy. Aggressive driving uses as much as one third more fuel compared to normal driving patterns
  •
  • 2. Regularly tune and service your car – this can improve fuel economy by up to 4%

    3. Travel light – fuel efficiency drops by 2% for every 45kg in the car

    4. Use the correct engine oil, which maintains fuel efficiency

    5. Turn your engine off when you’re in a queue or waiting for someone – it just burns more fuel!

    6. Slow down! The faster you drive, the more fuel your car will consume as your car tries to resist wind. Travelling at 110 km/h uses up to 25% more fuel than travelling at 90 km/h.

    7. Only use air conditioning in your car when necessary – it puts strain on the engine and uses more fuel!

    8. Avoid rush hour – hanging around waiting for traffic to move consumes fuel

    9. Use the handbrake on slopes to maintain fuel efficiency

    10. Take the roof racks off if they are not being used – you’ll reduce fuel economy by up to 5%
Check your air filter – a clean filter can improve fuel economy by up to 10%
